Amy’s Fresh Delivery
Our passion for fresh food and healthy living began in early childhood; cooking as a family and sitting down to enjoy a meal together were everyday occurrences for us. The most delicious meals always contained vegetables, herbs and fruits from the garden in our backyard. As the years went by, the garden began to take over the majority of space behind our house! Friends and neighbors would come by to help us harvest. Sharing our fresh picks with friends and family has always brought us an enormous amount of joy.
On a trip to our home away from home in Colorado, my brothers and I were running around town trying to find the best local products to prepare a special birthday dinner for my sister. After the meal we were talking about how much easier it would have been if someone could have just gathered up the items and delivered them to our doorstep. Then we started thinking about our friends back in Florida; everyone should have the opportunity to support local farms and to eat the freshest fruits and veggies. But what about our friends without green thumbs? Or those who don’t have the space for a garden? Or the time to drive to a farm each week and pick out items? Don’t those people deserve what we’ve been lucky enough to always have?

Our first experience “playing in the dirt” was in our grandmother’s garden in Northern Michigan. Dinner plans for Grandma Twila started in the morning. Once she checked to see what was ready to be picked in her garden, she would head out to the local farms and bakeries to find the other ingredients she needed. She believed it was her responsibility as a member of the community to buy local products whenever possible; she instilled this deep belief in us as children. We believe that we are honoring her memory every time we make the extra effort to buy local.
